This concept has been explored in a few different ways in comic books as of late.
- Bendis and Bagley’s ‘Brilliant’ where ultra smart students have made a serum that gives superpowers; Think MIT students who crack the code to be super.

- Zenescope Entertainment’s ‘Fly’: where superpowers come from a drug that can be highly addictive.

- Joe Hill’s the Cape on IDW: where the ability to fly comes from a childhood “lovey” and the powers are used by a jealous nit in killing those closest to him.
